Production Assistant/Grower

Pay: $45,000 - $60,000 per year

Qualification Requirements

  • Horticulture/Agriculture Degree and/or 3-5 year experience in greenhouse or nursery production; supervisory experience preferred.
  • Bilingual, Spanish and English or willingness to learn.
  • Spring/seasonal extended hours required (extra time off in Dec/Jan optional).

Responsibilities

  • Manage small pot production facilities, including receiving and organizing incoming liners.
  • Manage multiple crew leaders and a seasonal staff of up to 25 people.
  • Oversee planting, watering, and growing crops in greenhouse and outdoor settings.
  • Monitor plant health and scout for pests and diseases.
  • Oversee operations of automation equipment such as mechanical transplanters, seeders and other automated production lines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production goals.

Logistics Coordinator

Pay: $20-28 per hour

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Logistics Coordinator to join our team. This role is vital in managing our supply chain operations to ensure timely delivery of our products to garden centers. We are based in South Jersey, so this is an in-person job with extended hours in our busy Spring season, but flexible winter hours. Join us in our mission to grow and serve the horticulture industry with passion.

Qualification Requirements

  • 3 + years of proven experience in supply chain management or logistics roles.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse management systems and transportation planning.
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Experience with fleet management.
  • Ability to analyze complex logistics issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure, take initiative, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Route trucks and dispatch to drivers.
  • Create and file bill of ladings.
  • Manage customers’ accounts with delivery specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Implement strategies to reduce costs for customers.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with carriers, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Analyze supply chain data to identify areas for process improvement.
  • Negotiate contracts and freight rates with carriers
  • Utilize ERP systems and transportation management systems for tracking

Sales Representative

Pay: Base rate $50,000 - $60,000 per year

Do you love shopping at a garden center? Would you like to visit garden centers on a regular basis? Imagine having the freedom to manage your own time while selling high quality products that bring people joy.

We are looking for someone willing to visit customers 2-3 times year throughout the territory of Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa; but we are hoping to expand to other Midwest states in the future. Our sales team communicates via Teams, so you should be tech savvy and familiar with Microsoft Office and Teams.

Who are we looking for?

  • A self-motivated person that is willing to go after new clients.
  • A great communicator (written, verbal, in-person).
  • Someone with a background in horticulture and a love for plants.
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills.
  • Tech savvy with attention to detail.
  • Great customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, take initiative, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Present plant products, availability, and pricing to customers.
  • Provide excellent product knowledge and customer support.
  • Assist in trade show planning and implementation.
  • Manage customers’ orders by reviewing out-of-stock items and offering solutions.
  • Quote plant material for landscape jobs.
  • Increase customer base by making cold calls.
  • At least two visits to our NJ farm a year.
  • Set yearly sales goal for each account.

Summer Internship

Full Time (Paid) Internship – May-August

Centerton Nursery is looking for an enthusiastic student or young professional that wants to learn more about the Horticulture industry.

Skills you will learn in this internship:

  • Propagating: Nearly half of what we grow, starts here as propagative material.
  • Growing: potting, herbicide, pesticide, beneficial insect use, etc.
  • Plant Care/Maintenance: We have engineered and built our own trimming machines. Learn when to trim a plant and how to keep crops filtering in a timely manner.
  • Vegetable Production: Work with our transplanting team to help grow vegetable and herb plants for the garden center market.
  • Field Production: We have a sister company selling large bare-root plants to the wholesale grower market.
  • Shipping high quality, disease and weed free plant material that is ready for retail.
  • Branding/Marketing: We create many of our own brands and design logos/graphics for these programs. In addition, we market our products through social media and mass emails with picture availability lists and weekly videos. We also produce our own website, catalog, and flyers.
  • Sales/Customer Service: We pride ourselves on having some of the best customer service and quickest turnaround times in the industry. This starts with good communication.
